An open-space or open-plan office is a single big office
space divided into separate zones only with furniture.
Such an office can be designed quite freely since there
are no walls - all employees can be brought together
into one room, without any obvious hierarchies. Mobile
space arrangement systems or colour codes can still
create smaller zones, which, for example, are assigned
to a specific department. Communication and dynamic
problem solving are given free rein.
Advantages
• ideal communication flow
• dynamic work process
• promotion of team work
• increased readiness to get moving
• conferences and meeting in selected zones
• active cooperation, participation in events
• equality of all workstations
• maximal flexibility and variable room sizes
Disadvantages
• high noise level
• possibly distraction through passing employees
• while there is more openness, there is less intimacy
• Some companies experience lower productivity due
to employees socializing more.
The open office concept can very easily be
achieved with refurbished furniture. We can
virtually make any layout and style that you
can imagine, and you are saving the planet
and your pocket book at the same time.
